What The Recall Registry is, and what it isn’t.

Who you’re dealing with

The Recall Registry is a service of Umbrum Holdings LLC. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Umbrum Holdings LLC. You can reach us at hello@therecallregistry.com.

We are not a government agency

The Recall Registry is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency. We do not issue recalls and we are not an official alert service.

What we do is gather recall notices already published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and rewrite them in plainer language. The agencies’ own notices are the authoritative version, and every recall page here links to its original.

Check the original before you act on something serious

We work hard to summarise accurately, and the underlying data comes directly from the agencies. But summarising involves judgement, agencies update their notices, and no automated system is perfect. Lot numbers, date codes and model ranges are exactly the details that decide whether a recall applies to the item in your house — and exactly the details worth reading at the source.

So: if a recall here matters to a decision you’re making, follow the link and read the agency’s notice. That’s not us covering ourselves. It’s the same advice we’d give a friend.

Nothing on The Recall Registry is medical, legal or safety advice. If something here worries you about a medicine or a health condition, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

What we don’t promise

The Recall Registry is provided “as is”. We don’t promise that it is complete, error-free, always available, or up to the minute. In particular:

• Absence is not safety. If a product isn’t listed here, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been recalled. Agencies publish on their own schedules and some recalls never reach the feeds we read.
• We hold a window, not an archive. Food recalls go back one year and medicine three, for the reasons explained on our About page. Older recalls exist and aren’t shown here.
• Data arrives late. We refresh twice a day, and the agencies themselves sometimes publish weeks after a recall begins.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Umbrum Holdings LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site.

Using the site

You’re welcome to read, search and share The Recall Registry freely, including linking to any page. Please don’t attempt to disrupt the service, scrape it at a volume that affects other people’s use of it, or present our summaries as though they were issued by a government agency.

The underlying recall information comes from US government sources and is in the public domain. Our own wording, design, categorisation and severity assessments are the property of Umbrum Holdings LLC.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
